  1. TECHNICAL THINGS

  3. This issues technical things will be taking a look at the strange
  4. world of the Amiga ports.
  5.  
  6. We will be looking at the A1200 (which could also apply to the
  7. A600 and later machines such as A4000). Not new machines such
  8. as the Infinitv A1500 etc.
  9.  
  10. JOYSTICK/MOUSE PORT
  11.  
  12. These are generally used to connect Joysticks and mice to. A while
  13. ago a card reader (for bank cards etc.) was sold by Datel Electronics.
  14. These also used the Joystick port.
  15.  
  16. DISKDRIVE PORT
  17.  
  18. Used to attack another disk drive to your machine. Then on the back
  19. of this other drive, you could attach another drive and another
  20. to the back of that and another to the back of that giving the
  21. posibility of DF0, DF1, DF2 and DF3! I don't think the Amiga, by
  22. default can address more than 4 disk drives (including internal one).

  24. SERIAL PORT
  25.  
  26. Used to connect things like Serial Printers (Old) and Null Modem
  27. cables. Modems are also attached to the Serial Port.

  29. PARALLEL PORT
  30.  
  31. Used to connect Sound Samplers and modern printers.
  32.  
  33. AUDIO PORTS
  34.  
  35. These alow you to use Phono leads and connect your Amiga to various
  36. sound outpur devices such as speakers or the AUX input on your
  37. stereo which sounds very good.

  39. VIDEO

  41. You can attach a monitor to this. I'm not sure about what else you
  42. can add here.
  43.  
  44. COMP(OSITE)
  45.  
  46. You can connect this to a TV. I don't know what use it is.
  47.  
  48. MODULATOR
  49.  
  50. You can connect this to a TV too. This is the most used thing for
  51. connecting a TV to your Amiga instead of a monitor. You can actually
  52. have a monitor and a TV connected at the same time.

  54. POWER
  55.  
  56. Connect the Power supply to here. Duh :)
